Ribbons and Gift Wrapping Techniques

Forgot the typical Christmas ribbons and bows that you buy at the drugstore. This year make an impression with an array of ribbons. Mix widths, colors and textures to dress up your gifts.

Buying in Bulk To Save Money

I save on gift-wrapping paper by buying them in bulk. Even if I only got one pattern, my gifts do not look the same under the Christmas tree because I decorate them differently. Imagine the little black dress; no two women wear it the same. My collection of fabric ribbons and gift ornaments becomes my accessories.

How To Tie Ribbons on Gifts including the Classic Double Bow

The Canadian House and Home November 2008 edition featured several ribbon tying techniques from Alison Dawson of Mokuba, a fabulous ribbon shop in Toronto.

EMBOSSED PENCILS

I have been seeing a lot of items that are dip-dyed lately—anything from pillows, kitchen utensils, wood chairs, clothespins, baskets, metal cans, jewelry, coasters, fabric, vases—and the list goes on. I thought that this look would be cute to incorporate into a project somehow.
I was making a notebook the other day and wanted to add a little something to the pencils that went with it. I thought this would be the perfect place to try out the dip-dyed look. So here’s what I came up with:

Now instead of actually dyeing the pencils, I used our colored Stampin’ Emboss Powders (US/CAN) to create the same look. They were so simple to make! I just rolled the pencil in VersaMark ink and poured the embossing powder over the pencil. Then I used my Heat Tool to emboss it.

I just love how the colored embossing gave the pencils the perfect pop of color! There are so many ideas that can come from just everyday life. Next time you come across something that you think would work as a technique on your project, give it a try!

GATHER YOUR CLUES & ENTER TO WIN!
#1 Visit each blog!
Be sure to note the address or bookmark it or PIN IT! so you can revisit to see
more amazing projects or use some for inspiration.
Look closely at the cards! You can easily miss details by dismissing items will colour combinations outside your comfort zone or images you don't love love love. Stop! Even the most simple projects can get your creative juices flowing. Beleive it! TRUTH
Sometimes por quality images or lighting stop me but then I see something tote-fab that I didn't notice at first glance. This happens to me often. We tend to forget each and every project can be used as a map or layout. You can use those colours together or ribbon like that or stamping technique on your next creation!
I slowly figured out how to swap out items and/or images I do not own and produce something that may or may not be similar.
Think about it next time.
#2 Look for the yellow treasure box
